I love that moment where we are all in silence together starting the swim and knowing that it’s all finally happening after so many dreams and efforts. HOW DID ALL START WITH SWIMMERS? It all happened because of what I call a “confidence-trampoline” in my life which was finishing my first Ironman full distance triathlon in Lanzarote. SO, YOUR BACKGROUND IS DIFFERENT TO THE REST OF THE ARTISTS … Yes, and I feel so much respect when I hear or see the technique from artists doing watercolour or oil paintings, fine art, sculptures. My field has always been marketing in multinational companies in the food industry. Since then, l have not received yet a painting lesson. One day on the beach during summer 2017 I saw what the Portuguese painter Carla Sa Fernandes was doing, and I decided that I was doing it too. Meyer Memorial State Beach, it is vital that coastal monitoring measures be implemented in order to determine beach stability and therefore viability for future recreational use.I HAVE HEARD THAT YOUR STORY IS UNIQUE … Probably a bit. In the context of impacts on people in the region, with day-use visitors exceeding 250,000 annually at both Leo Carrillo State Beach and the Robert H. The significance of this pattern carries implications of diminished sediment supply, a shift in wave energy and wave approach, and in the broadest context, adjustment to sea level. Therefore, while these beaches behave in many ways as expected during the summer and winter seasons, there possibly is a longer term pattern revealed on this part of the southern California coast that bears investigation. GIS analyses of aerial photographs (1952-2005) suggest a pattern of sand loss, especially from the upcoast portions of all beaches. Winter 2010-2011 data reveal major lowering of the beach profile, and a retreat of the beachface, and limited profile recovery compared with the preceding summer data. This may be attributed to the fact that both beaches are bracketed by small rocky outcrops thereby encouraging wave refraction and a different energy distribution incident on the foreshore. While medium sand dominates all beaches, Leo Carrillo State Beach and Lechuza Beach display greater diversity in grain-size and subsequent beach response. Northwestern beaches such as Leo Carrillo bear the brunt of erosion carrying sediment downcoast where other beaches rework the sediment. Data supports that the littoral drift transporting sediment from the northwest to the southeast plays an important role in beach morphology. Beach change over this time frame revealed loss from the upcoast portion of each beach and accretion on the downcoast portion of the same beach. All beaches experienced erosion followed by recovery during summer months and erosion with limited recovery during the winter months. Sediments were collected from the backshore, upper, middle, and lower foreshore, and from the deeper nearshore zone. Wave and longshore energy data were recorded at each site together with data from nearshore buoys. Two topographic profiles at each beach were measured daily for two 2-week periods during summer 2010 and winter 2010-2011. Three beaches (Leo Carrillo State Beach, La Piedra Beach, and Lechuza Beach) within the Zuma littoral cell were investigated in order to determine rates of erosion and deposition under variable energy conditions.
